Profile
Longhorn Smokehouse BBQ brings the heart of Texas Hill Country to Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, combining authentic slow-smoked barbecue with the warmth and community spirit of pura vida. What started as one man’s search for real Texas brisket in Costa Rica turned into a mission much bigger than food. When pitmaster and former bull rider Jonathan couldn’t find true Texas-style barbecue, he built a smoker himself and began cooking for friends. Soon, word spread, and a backyard hobby evolved into supplying markets, restaurants, and hungry locals. One of those early customers was Patrick, a hospitality veteran who recognized just how rare great meat was in the area. Together, they joined forces to create Longhorn Smokehouse BBQ, blending passion, experience, and a love for great food.
Every cut of meat is smoked low and slow, Texas style, using Costa Rican hardwoods such as Nancita, Guacimo, Mora Amarilla, and even coconut husk for a unique local twist. From juicy brisket and fall-off-the-bone ribs to burgers ground in-house from brisket trimmings, the menu celebrates tradition while embracing regional flavor. Guests can also enjoy wings, fresh-cut fries, onion rings, and authentic Texas chili—no beans, just like back home.
Longhorn Smokehouse BBQ is built on heart as much as flavor. After Jonathan rescued Molly, now the restaurant’s beloved mascot, her story inspired the Molly Meals program, which supports local schools, youth athletics, and nonprofits like CEPIA. Additionally, 10% of every Molly’s Plate is donated directly to Hope 4 a Street Dog.
Whether someone is craving nostalgia, seeking bold new flavors, or simply wants great food with a side of good karma, Longhorn Smokehouse BBQ delivers smoky comfort, Texas hospitality, and pura vida charm.
