Profile
This is the Tamarindo office of Las Baulas National Marine Park (Parque Nacional Marino Las Baulas de Guanacaste), a protected area managed by Costa Rica’s national park service (SINAC). The office is at the north end of Calle Central, beside the Tamarindo estuary.
The park protects nesting beaches of the leatherback sea turtle, including Playa Grande, as well as the mangrove forest of the Tamarindo estuary.
Visitors use this spot to reach the estuary. Reviews describe guided boat trips through the mangroves, with chances to see crocodiles, birds, iguanas and howler monkeys, and a short walk among red, black and other types of mangrove trees.
Reviews are mixed. Many visitors enjoyed the wildlife and learned from their guide, while others found the boat trip expensive or felt the guide did not explain much. An older review reports a car break-in in the parking area.
