Breaking Bread

Breaking Bread is a bakery, coffee shop and deli on Central Avenue in Tamarindo, about a three-minute walk from the beach. It has been open for close to ten years and bakes its own bread and pastries, including the challah used in several dishes.

The menu covers breakfast dishes such as shakshuka, French toast, omelettes, bread with dips and overnight oats, plus sandwiches, paninis, salads, smoothies, cold drinks and coffee. There is a vegan panini. Most dishes cost between about 5,000 and 7,000 colones. There is outdoor seating. The bakery also sells bread and pastries wholesale to hotels, restaurants and coffee shops, and supplies baked goods for events.

It is open Tuesday to Sunday, 6 am to 3 pm, and closed on Monday.

Breaking Bread is consistently well reviewed. Guests most often praise the sandwiches, the shakshuka, the smoothies and the coffee, and many mention friendly staff and owners. One guest noted that the WiFi works well for remote work.
