Profile
Tamarindo Estuary Boat Tours runs guided boat trips in the Tamarindo estuary, part of one of Costa Rica’s larger mangrove wetlands, next to Las Baulas National Marine Park. Trips leave from the estuary at the north end of Tamarindo.
The standard tour lasts about 2 hours. Certified guides and captains take guests through the mangrove channels to look for American crocodiles, howler monkeys, iguanas, land crabs and many bird species, including the mangrove hummingbird. Private tours are available for families and groups. The company also lists turtle tours. Bookings are made by phone, WhatsApp or email.
The company is mostly well reviewed. Visitors praise guides who know the ecosystem and spot crocodiles, monkeys and birds, and some mention fresh pineapple at the end of the trip. One mixed review said the tour felt long, the guide’s explanations were hard to follow, and the guide moved too close to the crocodiles.
