Tama Surf Lessons

Tama Surf Lessons is a surf school run by a local Tamarindo surfer with more than 10 years of experience. The meeting point is at Supermercado Las Olas on Calle Central.

Lessons start with 30 minutes of theory and ground exercises, followed by about 90 minutes in the water, and include one hour of free surfing with the school’s equipment. Options include lessons for first-time and beginner surfers, group lessons, family packages for children over 6, and sessions for advanced surfers. The school also runs surf trips to Playa Grande, Marbella, Avellanas and Witch’s Rock. Bookings are made online or by phone, and lessons run every day from 6 am to 6 pm.

The school is consistently well reviewed. Students describe the instructor as patient, friendly and attentive, and several first-time surfers say they stood up many times in their first lesson. Intermediate surfers mention good progress and trips to less crowded spots.
